International Istanbul Film Festival: "Ajami" wins the FACE Award of the Council of Europe

During the closing ceremony of the 29th International Istanbul Film Festival which took place on 17 April 2010, the Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, presented the 4th Council of Europe Film Award (FACE) to Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani, directors of the film "Ajami". A Special Jury Prize was also awarded to Philippe Van Leeuw for his film “The Day God Walked Away”.
FACE is an award presented each year, during the Istanbul Festival, to a film director who has particularly raised public awareness of human rights issues, thereby promoting greater understanding of their importance. The winner receives a bronze sculpture and a cash prize of 10 000 euros, jointly awarded with Eurimages. (Press release)
