The Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats takes special interest on the recognition of the distinctiveness of biodiversity issues on islands. A working group of experts on European islands biological diversity, created in 2009, meets for the second time in Svalbard (Norway), 26–29 July. This meeting contributes to current international efforts to conserve biological diversity in Islands.
The participants also visit Svalbard Museum (Council of Europe Museum Prize winner for 2008).
