Description
The 19th century was a time of great inventions, dramatical changes and historical moments. This year’s theme of the Heritage Day in Germany, the "Tag des offenen Denkmals", invites everybody to dip into this epoch and its built heritage. “Romantism, realism, revolution - The 19th Century“ is the headline for the opening of usually locked places and for various events and guided tours. The Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz is coordinating this day nationwide. There is a wide range of possible destinations: rebuilt castles or ruins with stunning views, neo-classical churches or once aspiring health resorts with their enjoyable infrastructure may as well be visited as industrial architecture, witnesses of technical progress and working-class-quarters.
The public interest in national heritage is still at a high level: In 2010 more than 4.5 million visitors attended the German “Tag des offenen Denkmals”. Above 7.500 opened monuments and sites in exceeding 2.600 towns and cities participated at the Heritage Day.
We support the local organisers by providing free brochures, posters and other material, which are also available via our website.
Especially for teachers and people involved in youth-work we provide a brochure to give suggestions for possible events concerning the “Tag des offenen Denkmals”. All brochures can be downloaded at
www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de/mitmachen/download.html.
For regular news and helpful information visit our website or follow us on facebook (“Tag des offenen Denkmals”).

Description

The Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz in her function as the nationwide coordinator has accessed to announce in particular all buildings and events relating to the theme. Especially historical grocer houses, train stations, channels, pilgrim paths or buildings that show the influences from foreign artists or cultures will open their doors. Also events and guides tours will be offered in a lot of places.
In 2009 more than 4.5 million visitors visited the German
"Tag des offenen Denkmals". More than 7.500 opened monuments and sites in more than 2.600 towns and cities participate at the Heritage Day.
For the
"Tag des offenen Denkmals" we developed a brochure for the participants and one for teachers,
"tips and information" and "tips and information for schools" with some helpful suggestions how to organize the EHD. (You can download the leaflet from
http://www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de/mitmachen/download.html ). Emanating from this we realise since 2002 a self-contained school-project “denkmal-aktiv” with, among other things, teaching material concerning all aspects of cultural heritage.

Description
"Historical sites of enjoyment" is this year's theme of the Heritage Day in Germany. Again the "Tag des offenen Denkmals" invites everybody to go on a discovery tour into the past. This year, the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz in its function as the national coordinator has decided to announce all buildings and events relating to the theme. In particular such objects as historical inns, hotels, health establishments and baths, sports facilities, parks, concert- and cinema halls and theatres will open their doors. Events and guided tours will be offered in many places.
In 2008, ca. 4.5 million visitors visited the German "Tag des offenen Denkmals". 7,500 sites and monuments in more than 2,600 cities and communes opened their doors.
For the "Tag des offenen Denkmals" we developed a brochure for teachers,
"tips and information for schools" with some helpful suggestions on how to organise the European Heritage Days for pupils. (The leaflet can be downloaded from
http://www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de/mitmachen/download.html). Following this, we have created, since 2002, a self-contained school-project
"denkmal-aktiv" with, among other things, teaching materials on all aspects of cultural heritage.
