20th meeting of the Committee of the Parties

The 20th meeting of the Committee of the Parties of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings was held in Strasbourg on 10 March 2017.

The Committee elected Ambassador Christopher Yvon (United Kingdom) as Chair and Ambassador Corina Călugăru (Republic of Moldova) as Vice-Chair for a first term of office of one year.

The Committee adopted recommendations under the second evaluation round of the Convention addressed to the Governments of Armenia, Latvia, Malta and Portugal.

The Committee also considered reports submitted by Andorra, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, San Marino and Ukraine concerning measures taken to comply with the Committee of the Parties’ first round recommendations on the implementation of the Convention. The Committee took note of the measures taken by the authorities of these countries and decided to transmit the reports to GRETA in order to be taken into consideration for the second evaluation round. The Committee decided to make the reports public.

Further, the Committed considered reports submitted by Austria, Cyprus and the Slovak Republic concerning measures taken to comply with the Committee of the Parties’ second round recommendations on the implementation of the Convention. The Committee decided to send letters to these three parties, asking them to provide further information on certain issues. The reports will also be transmitted to GRETA for consideration and made public on the Council of Europe’s Anti-Trafficking website.
