Given the demographic changes in Europe and the ever-increasing number of older persons in our societies, this matter is highly topical.

This publication contains the text of Recommendation CM/Rec(2014)2), adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 19 February 2014 which underlines the need to fully integrate older persons into society in the most autonomous way possible, protecting them against discrimination, isolation, violence, negligence and abuses.

The publication contains also a CDDH follow-up report highlighting existing good practices, the compilation of replies received from governments as well as information on a Workshop organised by the CDDH on 21 June 2018 under the auspices of the Croatian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers.
