On 8 March we celebrate International Women’s Day: a day to recognise the social, cultural and political contributions of women around the world. It is also a moment to call for continued action against gender inequality, raise awareness on discrimination, and mobilise for a more equal and inclusive society.
Youth organisations are actively contributing to this effort. Discover how young people across Europe are taking action through projects on gender equality and feminism, supported by the European Youth Foundation in 2026:
“Fighting antifeminism and queerphobia - building youth resistance across borders”, organised by the International Union of Socialist Youth, brings young activists together for an international training course addressing anti-feminist and anti-rights movements in Europe. Participants will contribute to mapping these movements and organise local actions to raise awareness in their communities.
“Women, leadership, politics - YEPP Camp”, implemented by the Youth of the European People's Party, promotes women’s leadership and participation in politics through an international camp in Madrid, Spain. Participants will attend workshops, debates and discussions with elected officials and organise local follow-up actions to raise awareness about the results of the event.
“We are IN for FEMinism”, a long-term youth cooperation project implemented by the Federation of Young European Greens, focuses on building the capacity of young activists to apply intersectional feminism in their work. The project includes international training, local actions and the development of a handbook and campaign promoting inclusive and intersectional feminism.
The European Youth Foundation considers gender equality a key element of youth projects. All applicant and grantee organisations are encouraged to integrate gender equality measures throughout their activities from planning and implementation to evaluation.
