In the presence of Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ambassador Ion Jinga, Permanent Representative of Romania to the Council of Europe signed, on 17 February 2025, the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (also known as the Faro Convention).
This latest signature brings the total number of signatures to 5, in addition to the 25 member States that have ratified the Convention. The Romanian’s signature should further encourage citizen engagement in cultural heritage governance and the development of new bottom-up initiatives in this domain, such as the Alma Vii initiative that recently received a Grand Prix and the Public Choice Award at the European Heritage Awards Ceremony 2024.
