A kick-off meeting of the EU and Council of Europe joint project “Barnahus/Children’s House” took place in Ljubljana on 19-20 March. Participants discussed the adaptation of the Barnahus response model for child victims and witnesses of sexual exploitation and abuse in Slovenia, taking into account the existing institutional and legal framework and any related necessary reforms as well as lessons learnt from other European countries.
The project will contribute to improving the quality of the justice system to support institutional and administrative reforms for responding to child sexual exploitation and abuse in Slovenia. Through expert support, a detailed implementation plan to set up and operate the Barnahus response model will be developed in collaboration with the Slovenian authorities.
This project is co-financed by the Structural Reform Support Services of the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the latter in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice of Slovenia during the period of February to October 2018.
