    Employment of people from vulnerable groups discussed at round table

    On 25 April 2024 the Council of Europe brought together different actors, representing government agencies, vocational education and training institutions and businesses, at a roundtable aiming at enhancing the intersectorial cooperation for increasing the employment of persons from vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities.

    The 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the EU-CoE Joint Project “Support to the Justice Reform in the Republic of Moldova”

    On 29 April 2024, the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the Joint Project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Support to the Justice Reform in the Republic of Moldova” was held. Besides the representatives of the Council of Europe and the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova, officials of the Project beneficiaries and members of the Steering Committee – the Ministry of Justice, the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the National Institute of Justice, and the Constitutional Court – participated in the meeting. International development partners and civil society organisations working in the justice field were also present as observers.

    Advancing cooperation in combating hate speech, sexism, and other forms of gender-based violence ahead of presidential election

    Chisinau, Republic of Moldova 26 April 2024

    A round-table organised by the Council of Europe and European Union in partnership with the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova and UN Women gathered over 50 participants representing political parties, media, national and local authorities, civil society, as well as individual citizens. The aim was to jointly address measures needed to tackle hate speech, gender-based intolerance and sexism during the election period, building on lessons learned in the context of the local general elections in autumn 2023.

    Exchange on anti-discrimination practices between institutions from Malta and the Republic of Moldova

    Republic of Malta 16-17 April 2024

    Representatives of the national Equality Council and of the Advocate Office, led by heads of both institutions, Ian Feldman and Ceslav Panico, paid a visit to relevant Maltese counterparts on 16 and 17 April 2024, with the aim to learn from the experience of Maltese authorities in countering hatred and protecting the rights of vulnerable persons.

    Building a more supportive and tolerant environment for LGBTI children

    Chisinau, Republic of Moldova 12-13 April 2024

    The international Felis conference 2024, organised by the NGO Genderdoc-M with support of the EU/Council of Europe joint project “Combating discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes in the Republic of Moldova”, took place in Chisinau. It aimed to raise awareness on issues faced by LGBTI children. Accordingly, presentations and discussions focused on preventing bullying in schools, countering hate speech against LGBTI teenagers, as well as on developing strategies to build a more supportive and tolerant environment for LGBTI children in schools by advancing reforms locally.
