Xavier CADORET (SOC, France), alternate Spokesperson on the South-Med Partnership, will represent the Congress at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the North-South Centre in Strasbourg on 8 February 2018. Items on the agenda include the election of the president and vice-president and the Bureau of the North-South Centre. The Congress is a stakeholder in the institutional “quadrilogue” designed to spread the Council of Europe’s universal values beyond the European continent, and participates in its activities on a regular basis. The Congress has itself launched a programme called the South-Med Partnership which aims to meet the objectives of the Council of Europe’s neighbourhood policy through co-operation activities with Southern Mediterranean countries at local and regional level. In addition, in 2014, the Congress adopted Partner for Local Democracy status which will, in the future, allow for regular exchanges of best practices and experience with the countries concerned.
