Sandra Zampa (Italy, SOC) has been elected as the new Chair of the Committee on Migration, International Protection and Economic Co-operation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). An experienced Italian Senator, Ms Zampa has been an active member of the committee for several years.

The committee also elected Zdravka Bušić (Croatia, EPP/CD), Marco Scurria (Italy, EPCA), and Georgios Psychogios (Greece, UEL) as its Vice-Chairs.

The committee’s mandate, formerly the “Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons”, has recently been broadened to include issues related to economic co-operation and development, alongside migration, asylum and displacement. In line with this new mandate, the committee decided to set up new sub-committees on International Protection, Integration and Support to Vulnerable Persons, Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings, and Economic Co-operation and Development.
