Civil society representatives, political party members, and young leaders came together for a workshop on gender mainstreaming and intersectionality in electoral processes, organised by the Council of Europe. The event focused on promoting inclusive democratic participation and tackling the barriers faced by women and marginalized groups in Georgian public decision-making.
The workshop combined expert presentations with interactive discussions on international legal standards, the influence of electoral systems, and the effects of abolishing gender quotas in Georgia.
Participants explored key challenges such as the misuse of administrative resources, cultural and structural discrimination. Group exercises focused on elaborating strategic approaches to increase women’s political representation and developing tools for promoting equal participation.
The workshop concluded with groups presentations outlining a shared vision for advancing gender equality in public decision-making. The event marked an important step towards fostering dialogue, policy reform, and strong collaboration in building a more inclusive electoral processes in Georgia.
