The CEPEJ and the Courts Administration of Latvia are organising a conference on "Artificial Intelligence at the Service of the Judiciary" in Riga (Latvia), on 27 September 2018. This conference will be opened by the Minister of Justice of Latvia and the President of the CEPEJ, and will bring together representatives of the academic world, justice professionals, judicial institutions from different European countries to explore how artificial intelligence can be used to support the work of legal professionals and courts and ensure a better quality of justice, while respecting fundamental principles. It will highlight the values that should guide the application of artificial intelligence in judicial systems. The debates will feed into the work and studies currently being carried out by the CEPEJ in the field of artificial intelligence, including in particular a European Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems, which could be adopted at the end of this year.
It will be broadcast live on the CEPEJ website and on social networks. Interviews will be carried out on site and will support the CEPEJ's work and studies in the field of artificial intelligence.
