Data Protection Day 2020

On 28 January 2020, the 14th edition of Data Protection Day will be celebrated globally. The Council of Europe, initiator of this important celebration, continues to play a leading role by encouraging and showcasing initiatives held on this occasion.

Celebrated yearly at the same date, Data Protection Day marks the anniversary of the opening for signature of Convention 108, the global data protection Convention.

To celebrate with us:

Ahead of the Data Protection day, the Council of Europe attended the Computer, Privacy and Data Protection Conference (CPDP) 2020 held in Brussels from 22 to 24 January, where it organised, this year, a session on the work the organisation is carrying out in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It also took part in a panel on  "Digital identity in Africa and the Middle East" and a panel on “Changing technology and laws: can accountability be a key to global compliance?”. This annual international Conference brings together policy makers, academics and practitioners to exchange views regarding information technology, privacy, data protection and law.
