The conference entitled “Fighting Corruption and Economic Crime“ will be held at the Law Faculty in Tirana on Tuesday, 12 November.

The representatives of international organisations, diplomatic corps, public institutions, academia, university, civil society and media will discuss the ongoing co-operation between Albania and the Council of Europe monitoring bodies, such as GRECO and MONEYVAL, which is aimed at further strengthening Albania’s institutional capacity to prevent corruption, money laundering and terrorism financing.

Opening remarks will be given by:

• Gianluca Esposito, Head of Action against Crime Department and Executive Secretary of GRECO, Council of Europe
• Luigi Soreca, Ambassador, European Union Delegation to Albania
• Christina Vasak, Ambassador of France to Albania
• Jutta Gützkow, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana

Held under the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey - Phase II, and organised by the Council of Europe Office in Tirana in co-operation and partnership with the Embassy of France in Albania, the Ministry of Justice and the Prime Minister’s Office, the event will also mark the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.

Media are welcome to cover the conference, which begins at 16:00 at Law Faculty, Rruga Milto Tutulani, Tirana and will be followed by statements to the press, at approximately 18:00.
