Local councils commit to ROMACTED programme

The Institute of Romani Culture in Albania (IRCA) as the national support team of the joint European Union/Council of Europe ROMACTED Programme introduced during January and February to 250 local councillors in the seven Albanian partner municipalities of Fier, Roskovec, Permet, Vlora, Elbasan, Pogradec and Korce the programme, methodology and expected local interventions of ROMACTED aimed to promote good governance and Roma empowerment at local level.

The local councillors expressed their support for the aim to promote social inclusion of vulnerable minorities and unanimously approved the ROMACTED Memorandums of Understanding. Henceforth, the Memorandums of Understanding will be officially signed at the launching conference in Tirana on 22 February, as a tripartite framework of cooperation between the Council of Europe, Ministry of Health and Social Protection and partner municipalities in view of implementing the ROMACTED Programme at local level.
