The ROMACTED Program team agreed at a co-ordination meeting on the start off of the local activities to be held in the seven Albanian municipalities of Fier, Roskovec, Vlora, Permet, Elbasan, Pogradec and Korca during spring 2018.
Programme Officer Orsiola Kurti, the Institute of Romani Culture in Albania (IRCA) and the selected facilitators consented on the presentation of the Roma art and culture at local level. Young Roma professionals will perform drama shows imparting messages of empowerment and mainstream Roma integration in each of the Albanian municipalities. Roma music will be played in the public shows, already embraced by local authorities. These launching activities will mark the commemoration of International Roma Day on 8 April aiming at celebrating Romani culture and raising awareness on resolution of issues faced by Roma worldwide.
These activities will be organized by “ROMACTED: Promoting Good Governance and Roma Empowerment at Local Level”, a joint European Union and Council of Europe Programme implemented in seven beneficiary countries in Western Balkans and Turkey.
