A group of seven staff from different sectors of the General Directorate of the Prison Administration of Albania benefited from a study visit to the Irish Prison Service and meetings with senior officials, including the General Director and the Director of the Irish Training College. The group got acquainted with the initial and in-service training curricula used at the Training College. It also visited several prisons in the Dublin region with focus on rehabilitation activities for different categories of prisoners, including women and sex-offenders, on prisoners’ individual sentence planning and regime, pro-social modelling and effective prison management.
The study visit took place from 23 to 27 April 2018 and was organised within the scope of the Action “Enhancing the protection of human rights of prisoners in Albania”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe within the ”Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”.
