"Dans le présent message moi et tous les enfants venons vous dire très grand merci pour ce grand secours que vous nous apportez. Les mots nous manquent pour traduire notre gratitude. De cet argent nous allons avec l'équipe des dames qui m'aident dans ce travail achète les electroviraux, la nourriture, les matelots, les couvertures et les draps pour les enfants qui dormaient encore presque sur le sol. Apres les achats je vous envoie les comptes. Nous présentons à travers vous que nous connaissons nos remerciements à tous les membres de votre organisation. GRAND MERCI"

Collection of clothes for the flood victims in Romania

(August 2006) The recent floods in Romania has caused widespread disaster. Entraide-solidarity organised a collection (on the initiative of our colleague Simona Ghita) of all sorts of clothes, covers and other items of basic necessity.

We have received thanks from the Romanian cultural association as well as the priest Vasile Iorgulescu, for our support in the collection and all the effort made during this operation which was put into place very rapidly and met with a huge success. There was such a large quantity of items collected that a second lorry was ordered.

Donation to support victims of the Tsunami

(February 2005) Entraide made a donation to the NGO "Parrains de l'espoir" for the construction of a well in India to help Tsunami victims as well as funds to pay for medicine at a retirement home, also in India.

Reconstruction of a school in Bam, Iran

(Janvier 2004) L'Association Entraide-solidarités du personnel du Conseil de l'Europe fait appel à votre générosité pour une bonne cause: reconstruire une école détruite à la suite du tremblement de terre survenu à Bam en Iran.

Pour ce faire, l'Association Entraide-solidarités du personnel s'associe à l'ONG alsacienne "Parrains de l'Espoir" qui, en partenariat avec le collectif Alsace-Iran, contrôlera l'affectation des fonds et la bonne exécution du projet.

Les dons peuvent être déposés dans l'urne de l'Association disposée près de la Banque dans le hall principal du Palais ou adressés, au nom d'Entraide-solidarités.

To cure lepers, let's move here and now…

(January 2004) The Bureau of Entraide invites you to answer generously to the call of our colleague Stéphane Leyenberger.

For several years I have called upon you on behalf of the Alsatian Association against Leprosy to help children, women and men who suffer from this terrible disease and loose their human dignity because of the intolerable mutilations which are sometimes the result of that disease.

"Thanks to you, I have music in my heart", said a former leper I met some months ago in North Cameroon who asked me to thank all those who had contributed to cure him.

Unfortunately leprosy remains a reality: one new case every minute, one child afflicted every ten minutes. But leprosy can be easily cured, thanks to an efficient and cheap treatment, comprising of a group of three antibiotics, costing around 30 €.

Therefore the public must remain mobilised:  there is a need to act here and now, to be quicker than the disease and make sure that music is in the hearts of the 700 000 lepers who rely on us in the poorest countries.

Sunday 25 January is the World Day against Leprosy and once again I call on your generosity… with my warmest thanks for my friend from North Cameroon, and all the others!

Information on the use of your contributions and donations: help for abandoned children in Romania

(Février 2004) Grâce à vos contributions et dons réguliers, l'Association des agents du Conseil de l'Europe "Entraide-Solidarités" participe depuis plusieurs années aux efforts menés en Roumanie pour sortir les enfants abandonnés, parfois handicapés, des institutions inhumaines ou tout le moins pour rénover ou reconstruire ces institutions.

En 2003, l'association a soutenu l'action de SERA et M. François de Combret (SERA) nous écrit :

"... Le petit garçon qui a dessiné ce bonhomme de neige s'appelle Nelu ; il a 9 ans. Abandonné à la naissance, il a vécu ses premières années dans le sinistre "mouroir" de Ungureni (Roumanie). Grâce à votre générosité et à celle d'autres donateurs de SERA, il est sorti de cet enfer et il se trouve maintenant dans un orphelinat spécialement aménagé pour lui et 41 autres petits rescapés de Ungureni. Dans ce nouvel orphelinat, Nelu a accompli de grands progrès, comme le montre le joli dessin ci-joint.

Et dire qu'à Ungureni, Nelu était considéré comme "irrécupérable" !

Ainsi vous avez contribué à transformer le sort de cet enfant ... de tout cœur grand merci."

- Aide au fonctionnement du Centre d'accueil pour Mamans démunies et leurs bébés à El Jadida au Maroc : 1800 euros

- Aide à la création d'un atelier de couture pour les femmes d'un quartier défavorisé de Conakry (Simbaya) : 1000 euros

Soap for the homeless

(February 2004) If you're travelling - on mission or on holiday - think about bringing back the small bars of soap provided in hotels, which are often not used.

They can be used by refugees, beggars and the homeless who take showers when temporarily housed in reception centres, night shelters or other centres.

A small gesture which can make a big difference. Cleanliness can be the first step towards finding dignity and a better future.

Postcards sale for the benefit of Entraide-Solidarity

(March 2004) For 3 euros, keep in touch with your family and friends and help the underprivileged! As part of its fund-raising, the Entraide-Solidarity Association is selling the postcard opposite of "Someone watching the arrival of three swallows".

The Picture on the card was painted and donated to the Association by Jean-Marie Cherruault. The original painting (42cm x 29.5cm) will soon be auctioned to raise funds. The cards were printed free of charge by CM Packaging. Cards are on sale for 3 euros each, or two cards for 5 euros. The money collected will finance the causes which appear on the Association's Intranet site.

Morocco – Aid to impoverished mother

(November 2003) Entraide solidarity supports the work of the Association El Jadida in Morocco which helps single mothers with children who have been rejected by their family and society in general, and who are seeking to avoid resorting to begging and prostitution, often the only ways possible for them to survive.

The contribution of Entraide – which could develop further in the future - is, for the moment, in the form of covering the costs, for a certain period of time, of the rent, water and electricity of the centre.
