MONEYVAL has officially launched its 6th round of mutual evaluation of Hungary. In this context, a high-level exchange was held, with the participation of the MONEYVAL Chair, Mr. Nicola MUCCIOLI, the State Secretary for Public Administration, within the Ministry of National Economy, Mrs. Anikó TÚRI, and the Government Commission for Combatting Money Laundering, Mrs. Ágnes HORNUNG. The intervenors highlighted the importance of the assessment process and reaffirmed the commitment of national authorities to its success.
Following this high-level exchange, a targeted training was conducted for both governmental and private-sector stakeholders. The sessions aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the underlying standards and methodology of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), alongside the evaluation approach applied by MONEYVAL. Hosted in Hungary, the training brought together over 130 participants, including representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office, financial intelligence unit, law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, supervisory authorities, tax and customs administrations, self-regulatory bodies, and the private sector.
