In the support of the 6th cycle of assessments Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) organised a week-long assessors training in Valetta, Malta.
From 27 to 31 October, 39 experts from 26 MONEYVAL and FATF countries attended the training which focussed on 6th round of mutual assessment procedures, revised FATF Standards, assessment of countries on both technical compliance and effectiveness aspects.
The training was open to new assessors.
The participants were provided with theoretical tools and practical exercises enabling them to identify gaps in the anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing and proliferation financing national frameworks and to provide the assessed countries with objective and constructive recommendations for improvement.
The successful completion of an assessors’ training is needed for all experts for them to be invited to act as evaluators in the context of MONEVYAL and FATF assessments.
MONEYVAL remains committed to providing such training courses in the future.
