MONEYVAL took part in the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) Working Group meetings and High-Level Workshop held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 9 to 11 November 2025. During the workshop, the Secretariat presented key lessons learned from its experience as the first FSRB to carry out an evaluation under the new round. The mission highlighted the value of continued cooperation with the FATF and FSRBs, particularly during the early stages of the new evaluation round. The Secretariat also closely followed discussions of the MENAFATF Risk Committee, the Technical Assistance and Typologies Working Group, reinforcing ongoing collaboration across regional bodies.
At this occasion, the key features, added value and latest developments in relation to the Council of Europe Convention on laundering, search, seizure and confiscation of the proceeds from crime and on the financing of terrorism (CETS 198), were presented, including the assessment of the Kingdom of Morocco, which is the first MENAFATF juridiction which ratified the Convention.
