Presentation of the Committee

The Rights of the Child Committee (promoting the rights of children of all ages across Europe) exists to:

-    ensure the voice of collective civil society (CINGO) is represented and influential within the Council of Europe’s (CoE) work on  children’s rights (e.g. through representation in the CDENF  Children’s Rights Steering Committee, Lanzarote Committee, other children’s rights committees and expert groups of the CoE)
-    provide good practice examples and consultation responses to CoE children’s rights
-    promote children’s rights perspectives transversally across all the work of CINGO including within our thematic committees and in the priorities of the CINGO General Assembly
-    highlight the impact on children’s wellbeing and rights of actions, policies and political positions in CoE which may not immediately reference children (e.g. work on environment, freedom of association and protection of civic space)
-    integrate work on children’s and youth/young adult rights and wellbeing initiatives within CINGO and the wider CoE, promoting the involvement of younger participants in CINGO and raising the voice of children and young people directly where possible
-    encourage members of CINGO to promote children’s rights within their INGOs and in their countries
-    provide opportunities for members and other stakeholders to find out about CoE and CINGO’s children’s rights work through participation and organisation of webinars and other dissemination activities

All members of CINGO are encouraged to connect with and join the committee but contacting the co-chairs (see contact details above).
