The protection of social rights in Europe and the European Social Charter

The Academic Network on the European Social Charter and social rights and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, organised an International congress on 4 and 5 October 2019 in Thessaloniki.

The congress examined international and supranational sources of social rights protection in Europe. The impact of the European Social Charter on the legislation on dismissal protection, collective labour right and collective bargaining were also discussed. The right to social security, as well as the social rights of vulnerable groups and gender equality in the European Social Charter, the European Convention on Human Rights and EU law were also addressed by the participants.

The European Committee of Social Rights was represented by Petros Stangos, member of the European Committee of Social Rights.
