Two concertation seminars to enhance personal data protection in the health sector in Tunisia

Personal Data Protection faces considerable challenges in the health sector. Therefore, it appeared necessary to prepare relevant and adapted tools to raise the awareness of all the actors of the sector to its importance.

Two concertation seminars gathered professionals and various actors of the Tunisian health sector to discuss the issues, respectively on 8 January in Sfax and 10 January in Tunis, around the National Authority for Personal Data Protection (INPDP) and a Council of Europe expert. Having head a presentation on the situation of data protection in the health sector in Tunisia by the Chairman of the INPDP, and one on the applicable standards, by the expert Frédérique Lesaunier, the participants shared the difficulties they encounter and expressed their wishes for concrete help and tools to better protection personal data in their respective area of activity. These elements will enable the Council of Europe to develop a specific “tool box” which the INPDP will use for its targeted awareness raising actions for the health sector.
