Participation in the meeting of the “Group of Copenhagen”

The “Network of National Platforms” (“Group of Copenhagen”) to act within the framework of co-operation activities for the promotion of the Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (“Macolin Convention”) is holding its 7th meeting in Oslo on 19-20 February 2019. The Group of Copenhagen is currently discussing challenges related to betting, also touching upon privacy and data protection issues which are high on the agenda in the context of exchanges of information. Systems of alert and surveillance of suspicious activities are providing practical tools to increase the reactivity and the efficiency of national platforms, as well as their trans-national co-operation (also in relation to international sport events), and need to be further elaborated in consistency with international privacy standards.

The Data Protection Unit participates in the meeting and holds a workshop to address issues such as data sharing between public authorities, private and public actors, international transfer of personal data, processing publicly available data and the legal framework for the cooperation.
