Third meeting of PC/ADI-CH takes place in Strasbourg

The third meeting of the Committee of Experts on Hate Crime took place on 30-31 March 2023 in Strasbourg under the Chairmanship of Ms Stephanie Oener (Austria).

The Committee further examined and discussed the draft Recommendation on combating hate crime, focusing on issues concerning the definition of hate crime as well as the main legislative approaches member States should consider when seeking to comprehensively prevent and address hate crime. The PC/ADI-CH also opened discussions on the first draft of the Explanatory Memorandum to the Recommendation.

The PC/ADI-CH is a subordinate committee to the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) and to the Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion (CDADI). It is composed of national experts nominated by their respective governments, as well as independent experts and representatives from international organisations and civil society.

The next meeting of the Committee is planned to take place in early October 2023, during which the draft Recommendation will be finalised prior to submission to the CDPC and CDADI at their respective plenary meetings in November and December 2023.
