Polish civil society and the aims of the Faro Convention

This study produced by Ms Aleksandra Chabiera (National Institute of Cultural Heritage in Poland) identifies existing civil society heritage initiatives in Poland already applying the Faro Convention principles, emphasising the collaboration among various stakeholders (academics, heritage institutions, authorities and heritage communities) and highlighting the limitations that heritage initiatives currently face to develop their projects.

To fully unleash such initiatives and reflect on the crucial role of cultural heritage in the everyday life of societies, as well as its contribution to the development and the economy, the author advocates for the signature and the ratification of the Faro Convention by the national authorities as an essential way to provide support and a proper legal framework for operating of a wide range of heritage initiatives in Poland.
