Collaborative workshop advances rehabilitation programmes for violent offenders in Armenia

In an ongoing effort to develop innovative rehabilitation programmes addressing the specific needs of probationers who have issues with violent behaviour, the Council of Europe hosted a two-day workshop at the Probation Service in Yerevan, Armenia, on 29 and 30 April 2024. It focused on creating comprehensive strategies for reducing violent behaviour among probationers, bringing together experts and stakeholders to share insights and design effective programmes.

The workshop was organised as part of the Council of Europe's commitment to supporting Armenia's Probation Service. The participants worked collaboratively to develop approaches aimed at reducing reoffending while ensuring public safety.

As part of the follow-up, feedback will be gathered from those who participated, to further adapt similar programmes from other jurisdictions to the Armenian context. This approach will allow the programmes to remain flexible and responsive to the specific needs and challenges within Armenia's probation environment.

This event is part of the Council of Europe’s support within the framework of the Project “Strengthening the Probation Service in Armenia”. The Project is financed within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026 and implemented by the Council of Europe.
