COVID-19

In response to the emergency of COVID-19 crisis and to the need of providing urgent support to inmates and prison staff, as of beginning of April and continuing until June 2020, the Council of Europe has donated and continues donating protective materials to several member States.

These donations aim at supporting the commitment of the Council of Europe member States and their national prison administrations to adhere to the CPT statement of principles for the treatment of deprived of their liberty, in accordance with the World Health Organization guidelines in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
