On 15-17 July 2020, the Council of Europe organized a series of training sessions for the first group of investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA).
The training covered a wide range of important topics such as the psychological and legal aspects addressed by the Georgian Code on Children Rights and juvenile justice principles, victimization, sexual offences, violence against children and interviewing technics, re-victimization as a consequence of a new administrative offence and the methodology of harm prevention.
This cascade training will involve up to 100 MIA investigators by the end of the year.
This activity was organized within the framework of the CoE Project “Juvenile and Adult Detainees Support” (JADES) which is designed to address the issues related to the rights of detained persons and their treatment; crimes committed by/against juveniles; effective remedies against police misconduct and effective investigation of the alleged ill-treatment.
