At their 1421st meeting, on 12 January, the Ministers’ Deputies held an exchange of views with Mr Paul Mahoney, Chairperson of the Advisory Panel of Experts on Candidates for Election as Judge to the European Court of Human Rights.

The Deputies also welcomed the Venice Declaration on the role of restorative justice in criminal matters, adopted by the Ministers of Justice of the Council of Europe on the occasion of the Conference on Crime and Criminal Justice - the role of restorative justice in Europe, held on 13-14 December in Venice (Italy). The Declaration stimulates policies aimed at a wider dissemination of restorative justice, access to which "should be an objective of the national authorities".

The other items examined by the Deputies appear in the Agenda and the decisions adopted are available in the meeting file.
