The trainings’ aims were to consolidate the abilities of the chairpersons of District electoral councils’ (DECs) of II level, as well as of other potential members of the DECs on management of the electoral periods, electoral complaints, legal liability, financing of the elections and of electoral campaigns and other topics ahead of 2024 Presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova. The acquired knowledge will be shared with other members of DECs from all regions of the country.
Falk LANGE, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, stated that “this training will contribute to the development of knowledge and skills in the electoral and related fields in order to successfully prepare the Presidential elections and the referendum on the EU future of the Republic of Moldova. We at the Council of Europe are determined to continue our support to national authorities in promoting democratic processes in line with CoE good practices and standards in the electoral field and in full compliance with the Accession Agenda of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union”.
The seminars Training of trainers in the electoral field represented an additional opportunity for the participants to interact and exchange best practices and opinions, important in the context of the upcoming Presidential election and the EU-related referendum of 2024.
The trainings were organized in cooperation with the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training of the Republic of Moldova, in the framework of the Project Improving electoral practice in the Republic of Moldova (IEPRM), Phase III, part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024.
