Evaluation of the 3rd work cycle of countries using the Child Participation Assessment Tool (CPAT): Finland, Malta and Slovenia

On 14 September 2020, the third work cycle of assessments of national child participation mechanisms and practice undertaken with the Council of Europe Participation Assessment Tool (CPAT) was evaluated at a fruitful online meeting, involving delegations from Finland, Malta and Slovenia along with the experts having supported the process and a guest speaker from Ireland.

The purpose of the meeting was to present the overall results of assessments and to provide a platform for an exchange between participating countries, besides receiving suggestions for further improvement of the tool itself. The Council of Europe commends the great efforts made by the three countries involved in work cycle III, whose results have been qualified as impressive by the experts.

The delegations expressed their satisfaction about the opportunity for using this tool, which has stimulated national dialogues and considerable developments. During the meeting participants also elaborated on ideas for further action both at the national and the European levels.
