To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening for signature of the Convention for the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse (“Lanzarote Convention”), a conference on “Ending sexual exploitation and abuse of children: Towards a world of trust” will gather representatives from all the States Parties to the Convention, relevant NGOs and other key players. The Lanzarote Convention, opened for signature on 25 October 2007 has now been ratified by 42 of the Council of Europe member States. It aims to protect children from sexual violence, as well as to support victims and their families.
After having recalled that the Lanzarote Convention is making a world of difference, the conference will deal with the three main working themes of the Lanzarote Committee: Making the “circle of trust” the safest world for children; Trust without borders: Protecting migrant and refugee children from sexual exploitation and abuse, and Protecting and empowering children in the digital world.
