The Minister of Justice of Tunisia, Mr Amor Mansour, met with a delegation of the CEPEJ on 7 March 2016, in Tunis. The meeting focused on the progress of the CEPEJ co-operation projects, which started three years ago in several “pilot courts” located in different areas of the country. The Minister underlined the importance of these projects aimed at improving the judicial system, and the court and the judicial proceeding managements. This meeting took place during a two-days visit to Tunis organised within the framework of the Joint project entitled: “Towards a strengthened democratic governance in the Southern Mediterranean”, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe. During the visit the CEPEJ experts also met with the representatives of some of the pilot courts (Court of cassation and First Instance courts of Tunis and Zaghouan), members of the Board of the “Institut supérieur de la magistrature” as well as with representatives of organisations, which are financing the projects in the field of justice in Tunisia.
