The Second Steering Committee meeting of the SEJ II Action took place on 11 July 2018 in Tirana, Albania. It was co-chaired by the European Union and the Council of Europe. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the SEJ II Action in its new phase with the agreement to extend the Action until 23 May 2019. This was an opportunity to discuss openly with beneficiaries and partners the activities and results of the SEJ II Action until now and envisage the months ahead in light of the on-going justice reform. Participants welcomed the work done by SEJ II Action, in particular with respect to priority areas of the reform such as the judicial map, the system for the evaluation of judges and improvements to judicial statistics with an overall Information an Technologies (IT) strategy and experts’ support for a case management system. The SEJ II Action will strengthen its cooperation with the Albanian Ministry of Justice and other bodies to prepare the ground work of future judicial institutions with further experts’ analysis and recommendations. The next Steering Committee meeting will take place in December 2018.
This activity took place under the SEJ II Action “Strengthening the efficiency and quality of the justice system in Albania”, which is part of the ’Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey’ programme ; co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
