A regional workshop, focusing on the "Results of data collection on the management of judicial case flows and the use of these data to improve efficiency," was organised in Budapest on 21 November 2023, with the support of the joint European Union and Council of Europe action "Towards a better evaluation of the results of judicial reform efforts in the Western Balkans - phase II Dashboard Western Balkans II".
The main objective of this event was to identify and address common challenges encountered in the collection and analysis of case-flow data. Since the beginning of the action, some improvements in the availability of these data have been observed, and the discussion helped identify certain technical obstacles to enhance the availability and quality of data, exchanging best practices on this matter.
The event focused on correspondents experiences and possible improvements in data collection process and analysis within the Dashboard Western Balkan. Key insights emphasized the project's notable achievement: a 50% reduction in "not available data" from 2019 to 2022. Participants highlighted the importance of overcoming technical limitations, advocating for ongoing improvement, standardization of data collection processes, and maintaining a sustainable network for continued success.
A summary document of these proceedings is currently being prepared and will be published soon on the website of the European Commission for the efficiency of justice (CEPEJ).
