Back Assessment of the ICT tools applied by the Slovakian judicial system

Assessment of the ICT tools applied by the Slovakian judicial system

As part of the co-operation project “Strengthening the efficiency and quality of the Slovak judicial system”, the CEPEJ conducted a mission to the Slovak Republic from 10 to12 October 2017. The main objective of this visit was to assess the concept, functionalities, practical use and benefits, as well as the eventual deficiencies of the information and communication technology (ICT) systems and tools currently implemented in the Slovak judiciary. The CEPEJ experts met with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, of its Analytical Centre, and of regional and district courts of Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Trnava etc. The incorporation of information and communication technologies into the justice system without distorting its underlying purpose and values must be acknowledged. Therefore, the CEPEJ experts provided information and good practices, based on the experiences, and discussed the difficulties of introducing high-tech solutions envisaged for the Slovak judiciary with the relevant stakeholders. This “peer review” process will result in a report illustrating the view of CEPEJ experts on the existing Slovak judicial ICT systems, underlining the aspects that may be improved in line with the CEPEJ recommendations.
