Back 36th meeting of the CEPEJ Working Group on Quality of Justice

36th meeting of the CEPEJ Working Group on Quality of Justice

On March 21 and 22, 2024, the CEPEJ Working Group on the Quality of Justice (CEPEJ-GT-QUAL) met for the first time under its 2024-2025 mandate. Discussions continued on the operationalization of the principles of the Ethical Charter for the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems, with a view to piloting the self-assessment tool designed to measure the compliance of artificial intelligence tools with the principles of the Charter adopted by the CEPEJ plenary last December. The Group also examined draft guidelines for assessing the quality of judges' work, based on the comparative analysis carried out by CEPEJ-GT-QUAL last year. Finally, the Working Group had the opportunity to have exchange of views on two topics included in its 2024-2025 mandate: the quality of judicial debate with Mr André Potocki, Former French judge to the ECHR, Honorary member of the French Court of Cassation and President of the Reflection Committee "Court of Cassation 2030", and on access to justice for children with the Committee of Experts on the rights and the best interests of the child in parental separation and in care proceedings (CJ/ENF-ISE).
