The European Conferences of Judges launched by the CCJE are a forum for exchanging experience and views on the problems shared by modern justice systems. The original feature of these conferences is that they are aimed at all judges, whatever their specialisation or their position in the judicial hierarchy.

European Conference of Judges "Integrity and corruption"

7 November 2017 in Strasbourg

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland will open the European Conference of Judges: "Judicial Integrity and Corruption", to be held at the Council of Europe on 7 November 2017. This conference, organised by the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE) will allow to prepare a CCJE Opinion on this subject in 2018, taking into account the recommendations of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) formulated on this subject as part of its recently completed 4th Evaluation Round. The President of the CCJE, Nils Engstad (Norway) and of the GRECO, Marin Mrcela (Croatia) will take part in the debate on threats to the integrity of judges, ways to prevent corruption and breaches on the integrity of judges and to the role of the executive, legislative and judicial powers in this area.

European Conference organised by the Consultative Council of European Judges and the Paris Bar Association on the theme "How to better organise the relations between judges and lawyers in order to improve the provision of justice"

Organised by the CCJE and the Paris Bar Association, the European Conference on the theme "How to better organise the relations between judges and lawyers in order to improve the provision of justice" took place in Paris, at the Maison du Barreau (2, rue Harley - 75001 Paris - Auditorium) on 7 November 2012. The results of this Conference will be used as a basis of preparatory works for the 2013 opinion to be adopted by the CCJE on the same topic.


4th European Conference of Judges and Prosecutors: the relationship between Judges and Prosecutors

Organised by the CCJE and the CCPE in co-operation with the "Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature" (ENM), the European Conference of Judges and Prosecutors meet in Bordeaux (France) from 30 June to 1 July 2009 on the theme "Exercise of the missions of judges and prosecutors : complementarity and/or autonomy". The results of this Conference will be used as a basis of preparatory works for the 2009 opinion to be adopted by the CCJE and the CCPE on the same topic.


3rd European Conference of Judges: Which Council for Justice?

Organised by the CCJE in co-operation with the High Council of the Judiciary of Italy and the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ), the 3rd European Conference of Judges was held in Rome on 26-27 March 2007 on the theme "Which Council for Justice". The results of this Conference were used as a basis of work for the drafting of the 2007 CCJE opinion concerning the same topic.

 

 


2nd European Conference of Judges on "Justice and the Media"

The 2nd European Conference of Judges was held in Cracow (Poland) during the Polish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 25-26 April 2005. It was organised by the Council of Europe on the instigation of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE), in collaboration with the Polish National Council of Justice and with the assistance of the Polish Ministry of Justice.

 


1st European Conference of Judges on "The Early Settlement of Disputes and the Role of Judges"

The 1st European Conference of Judges on the topic of "The Early Settlement of Disputes and the Role of Judges" took place in the Palais de l’Europe, Strasbourg on 24 and 25 November 2003.
