The ninth meeting of the Group of Experts on the Conservation of Amphibians and Reptiles took place on 9-10 October 2017 in Trondheim, Norway. The Group began by reviewing currently implemented national conservation initiatives, status of species and progress made to prevent and control Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans chytrid fungus. Focus has been then directed to the future and the Group considered further needs to develop new Bern Convention guidance and standard on overcome impending challenges linked to amphibian and reptile species diseases. In addition to these discussions, a short field study trip has been organised and carried out with the Norwegian Environmental Agency with the aim of locating salamander larvae.
