Trainings of Trainers for Lawyers Launched under the Joint Project on Supporting Individual Application to the Constitutional Court in Turkey

 

The first phase of Trainings of Trainers (ToT) planned to strengthen capacities of judges, prosecutors and lawyers on individual application system and fundamental rights and freedoms was organized on 19 – 22 June 2017. ToT planned in cooperation with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations were delivered by national academics. Following a detailed briefing on training methods and techniques, the training program focused on the following subjects:

  • Application procedure and admissibility,
  • Right to life /prohibition of torture,
  • Right to liberty and security,
  • Right to a fair trial,
  • Right to respect for private life and family life
  • Freedom of thought, conscience and religion/ freedom of expression /freedom of assembly and association,
  • Right to property

The second phase of the ToT will be organized on “Application Procedure” and “Admissibility Criteria” and following the completion of their trainings in autumn in 2017, approximately 150 lawyers will give regional trainings on individual application procedure and fundamental rights to their peers. The training sessions to be organized at the end of 2017 and throughout 2018 aim to reach 3000 lawyers countrywide.
