In the first week of December, schools from different levels across Ankara welcomed a pilot study for the assessment of foreign language proficiency.
The first session covering reading, writing and listening tasks began with the curious waiting of the students. The students opened their booklets and completed the first part of the test by listening carefully to the instructions, while foreign language teachers supervising the tests contributed to the smooth implementation of the tests by supporting the students in areas such as time management. The second session focusing on speaking skills was completed over the following two days.
The pilot study covers reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at A1, A2 and B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Over the following three days, around 900 students from 18 schools took part in the try-out study. The impressions and data gathered during this study will help shape the assessment tools developed and contribute to evidence based policy development.
This activity is part of the Joint Project on Enhancing Foreign Language Education Quality in Türkiye, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe in close cooperation with the Ministry of National Education.
