The third in-service training seminar on individual application procedures and admissibility criteria was organized in Ordu on 6-7 January 2018 in order to raise awareness, knowledge and basic skills of lawyers within the Joint Project on Supporting Individual Application to the Constitutional Court in Turkey.
Lawyers from Hatay Bar Association participated in the training which lasted for one whole day in two different groups of participants. Three lawyer facilitators who successfully completed the training of trainers for lawyers delivered the training. Murat Azaklı, Deputy Secretary General of the Constitutional Court and representatives of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations also participated in the training. The training programme focused on the following subjects:
- Introduction to individual application to the Constitutional Court: Scope of the Constitutional Court’s review power
- The rule of exhausting ordinary legal remedies in individual application and the time limit for application
- Manifestly ill-founded applications
- Drafting qualified petitions and how to file an application
