The revised version of the European Prison Rules (EPR), which was adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 1 July 2020, has been translated into Turkish under the Project “Enhancing the Effectiveness of Civil Monitoring Boards (CMB) in line with the European standards” that is funded by Sweden, Switzerland, the Republic of Turkey, the Human Rights Trust Fund and Canada.
The rules, which contain the key legal standards and principles related to prison management, staff and treatment of detainees and are a global reference in this field, guide the 47 Council of Europe member states in their legislation, policies and practices.
