Case Law Forum: Individual Application Judgments of the Turkish Constitutional Court Related to Criminal Judiciary

 

The second Case Law Forum on the judgments of the Turkish Constitutional Court related to Criminal Judiciary was organized on 2-3 March in Ankara within the framework of the Joint Project on Supporting Individual Application to the Constitutional Court in Turkey. Representatives from the Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation, Regional Courts of Appeals in Ankara, Antalya, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul and İzmir discussed and evaluated individual judgments of the Constitutional Court related to criminal judiciary in the forum which aimed to contribute to establishment of coherent case law among the supreme judicial authorities. Academics from various universities and Seçkin Erel, Head of Division in the European Court of Human Rights participated in the forum which offered an opportunity to evaluate the compliance of the judgments of the Constitutional Court with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.

A book consisting of a selection of Constitutional Court individual application judgments related to criminal judiciary was published and distributed to the participants.  The book will be distributed to all stakeholders.
