2nd European Conference of Judges on "Justice and the Media"

25-26 April 2005, Cracow (Poland)

The 2nd European Conference of Judges was held in Cracow during the Polish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. It was organised by the Council of Europe at the instigation of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE), in collaboration with the Polish National Council of Justice and with the assistance of the Polish Ministry of Justice.

The Conference was intended to help strengthen the principles of rule of law and enhance protection of the human rights by identifying approaches which States can apply in order to strike a balance in the relationship between justice and the media.

The Conference was open to judges and all professional persons concerned by the topic, namely media representatives, parliamentarians, representatives of international organisation, and experts in the matters discussed. (more...)
