. Since 1999 the World Aware Education Award have stimulated the improvement of networking, partnership and coordination among organisations for the increase of global education. Global Education visibility and practice is encouraged and reinforced by the Award. The World Aware Education Award annoucement in October 2006 resulted in applications from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, French Guyane, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kirgistan, Moldova, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Romania, Slovenia, UK, Ukraine and from international networks which were submitted to an international jury. The three projects the North-South Centre nominated for WAEA laureates are:
"Red-Cross project: institutionalising development education"
"Youth Action for Change" network
"The Others Role"
The Awards will be presented to the laureate organisations during a special ceremony hold during the symposium Mediterranean Crossroads : Migrations, Youth, Diversity, Cultures and Religions, organised in Monopoli, Italy, 6-10 June, in the context of the Council of Europe Campaign “All Different, All Equal”. The awards are made possible through the generous support of Irish Aid.

. « Women and Intercultural Dialogue » : also in the framework of the preparation of the « White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue » of the Council of Europe, the Directorate General of Education, Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sport (DGIV), the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in partnership with the Graduate Institute of Development Studies, Geneva (IUED) organised a consultation on « Women and Intercultural Dialogue » in Geneva on 14-15 April 2007 . The meeting brought together experts both from the North and South to discuss the interaction between the promotion of the rights of women and intercultural dialogue as well as the participation of women in this dialogue.
