The North-South Prize of the Council of Europe has been awarded annually since 1995 to two nominees selected from a combination of the categories Global, North and South, who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting North-South solidarity.

Following the 31st award ceremony which took place last week, the present call allows to identify grass root activists, personalities and organisations or institutions commitment to the defence and promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law as well as to the development of intercultural dialogue and the reinforcement of the North-South partnership and solidarity, in conformity with the principles and priorities of the Council of Europe.

The call for nominations is open to anyone wishing to propose candidates to expand their international recognition and to raise awareness on a specific cause. The nominations can be submitted in English or French on the following form by 15 September.

The list of nominees will be examined by a Jury composed of representatives of civil society organisations, local and regional authorities, parliaments, international organisations, and the North-South Centre Member States. In October, the Jury will select the two Laureates who will receive an honorary prize at an official ceremony held in the Spring of 2027 at the Assembleia da República (Portuguese parliament, Lisbon).
